About the role

We are currently recruiting a team of Academic Mentors spanning across Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Your role as a mentor is critical to our students and our team. This time is invaluable consolidate their learning in a supportive environment and allow them to build confidence and flourish.

As a mentor you will...

  • Mentor a small group of 14-year-old boys or girls throughout their two-year GCSE journey.
  • Lead an assigned group of 4-5 students for 60-90 minute weekly sessions.
  • Have regular check-ins with the Al-Quds Academy Team and Senior Mentors to support your personal development goals.
  • Have a part-time volunteering role with a yearly rolling commitment.

The average weekly commitment is 3 hours. 

An ideal mentor will have...

  • Minimum of 1 year of tutoring or teaching experience within the past 5 years (desired, not a requirement).
  • Familiarity with the UK GCSE curriculum and a high level of subject knowledge.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanour, with exemplary Islamic conduct that aligns with your role as a mentor to impressionable young students.
  • Excellent communication skills and the flexibility/maturity to teach children with varying abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.
  • Strong time management and organisational abilities.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Creativity and adaptability in delivering provided content.
  • Proficiency in effective online teaching.
